Prophet scans down
As of the time I'm writing this... the prophet.net scans are down. This happens way too often. I now call every time and bitch.
I urge any of you to do the same (paid or non-paid subscribers). Here's the toll-free #: 800-772-8040. I just did.

It is a very specific part of the scan that does not work...
Virtual Volume filter is OK
Percent Change from previous close is OK. It is the Specific gap filter that does not work: Today's Open Price at least 0.01 lower/higher...
If you delete that specific filter you get results. For today, you can delete that filter, save the scan and do what you usually do :-)
gt: you can't remove the .01 part of the criteria as it automatically defaults to 3%. It's also tied in with the gap filter. Not sure how you're able to do it.
hmmmm.... let me see :)
I removed the gap filter and kept %Chg from Prev. Close... Then I filter by Open lower/higher than previous day low/high with another tool... I will get that filter to you soon :-)
Bottom line remains, Prophet should get their shit together...
A lot of people unhappy with Prophet...

OONR , why do you use Prophet when IB can do the job. Or does Prophet come up w/ gaps that don't show up in IB scans??
anon: I really like prophet when it's working as it does find some candidates that IB does not. First, IB limits their list to 50 stocks... that's normally enough but it's not filtered by gap % and stuff which is what prophet can perform. It's just become way too unreliable.
i really don't understand why not opening an accnt in TD Ameritrade and use their Strategy Desk?
If you have already an accnt , just download the software and I'll be glad to send you the pre-scanned database I use plus the gaps scans (of course you could write your own or alter mine to your own specific needs).
It is free, fast and flexible - allowing you to write (almost) any scan you can think of.
cheers!
Anon or OONR7 -- Sorry if this has been answered before, but how do you get the results from IB into QuoteTracker? With Prophet, I just copy from the results page in my browser window and paste directly into QT. Can't get that to work from the IB results page. All I've been able to figure out is to type in the symbols by hand.
Has anyone tried to set up their TD Ameritrade scanner to develop a list - it lets you scan for stocks that gap up or gap down but what little I have tinkered with it I have not yet gotten a decent list - I am sure I am doing something wrong.
stockhunter: thanks for the info... I do have a TD account but it's not funded. I'll look into the scanner.
wolverine: you need to use the File/Export list as Excel option in TWS. Then open the document and copy and paste the info into QT. No other way of doing it.
Stockhunter,
I have found that TD data is often wrong for the open value of a stock, sometimes 2-3% off. This is a major issue for gap traders. It is a known problem and they are aware of it. Their main data guy is Jerry Medved, who is also the QT guy.
Did you notice that with Strategy Desk ? I am using their data API, I would assume the same data is used for Strategy Desk.
stockhunter,
could you share with us your scans using strategy desk. i just downloaded it and would like to try it out.
Anon,
Here is a scan: Price > 5, Avg volume > 100000, Gap > 1.5% and Open greater/lower than yesterday's high/low; Modify it to your liking.
++++
Last > 5 AND MovingAverage[MA,Volume,65,0,D] > 100000 AND ((((Bar[Open,D] - Bar[Close,D,1] ) ^2)^.5))/Bar[Close,D,1] > .015 AND (Bar[Open,D] > Bar[High,D,1] OR Bar[Open,D] < Bar[Low,D,1])
++++
In StrategyDesk, select File-new-Screener, paste the above formula into the formula box. Put in a symbol list in the symbol box. Press OK. You can make your list from the Exchanges folder. The scanning is slow and TD has a lot of erroneous Open values which affect the GAP values.
